Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What benefits are there to becoming a member of H&DDHS?
A: As a H&DDHS member, your annual membership of $80.00 entitles you to attend all society meetings (7 per year). Lecture topics are aimed at providing current information relevant to dental professionals. We encourage continuing education and choose our lectures with portfolio development in mind. Meetings offer members a great opportunity to network with colleagues, exchange information, and remain informed.

Q: May I attend a meeting without an H&DDHS membership?
A: Non-members are welcome to attend any monthly meetings. The fee is $25 per person (cash or cheque only).

Q: What are acceptable forms of payment for the H&DDHS membership?
A: We currently accept personal cheques as payment. Receipts will be issued. They are not mailed and must be picked up at meetings.

Q: Where and when are the meetings held?
A: We currently hold lectures at St. Naum of Ohrid, Macedonian Church, in Hamilton at 1150 Stone Church Road. The venue is centrally located, has good parking and is overall cost effective. Special events are sometimes offered at locations other than the one mentioned. Meetings are held on weekdays in the evenings. Registration is at 7:00 p.m. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and usually end between 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Q: When does a membership year begin and end?
A: Membership runs from September to May with a break during the summer months from June through August inclusive.

Q: What is the lecture format?
A: Lectures are very informal and questions are encouraged. The speaker will determine whether questions will be answered "during" or "after" the lecture. Members are provided with handouts at most lectures. Please bring a pen and paper to take notes.

Q: Is dinner an option?
A: The monthly dinners have been discontinued so that the meetings can start and finish earlier. Refreshments are served to all in attendance. We encourage you to attend the Christmas Dinner/Social to celebrate the season, savour a three-course meal and enjoy the company of colleagues. There is a $60 charge to pay with your registration.
